The aim of this workshop is not to describe the formal path or the complete process of applications for professorships, but rather to have a discussion with all participants about how to present oneself in the best possible light. In short, it's about general "best practices". So you've cleared the last hurdle and your invitation is finally here. What do you need to consider now? Of course, it's important to know what questions you should be prepared for and how to find out about the university in question! But there are very important questions that are not often discussed: What ideas or opinions must/should/may I have? Or even more frequently: Which ones will not do and may risk immediate failure? If the answer to these questions seems obvious to you (who in the middle of a job interview would be stupid enough to say that...?!), you should take part in appointment committees as an exercise, because you might be surprised...
